day 2 of vacation

on sunday, our second day of our vacation, we took advantage of some stuff going on in town….first we went to the IVAR store to celebrate their one year anniversary…ok, fine, you got me….the reason we went was to see Scooby Doo!

then we went to check out the pink fire trucks that were in town to visit former Peru Fire Chief, Gary Eccles, who has terminal cancer. We just watched it go by the FD, but it was still pretty emotional. the ‘Pink Heals Tour’ goes around the country in support of cancer patients. check out http://www.pinkfiretrucks.org/tour-dates/ for more info. it’s pretty amazing!

1st day of vacation ~ water fun and the drive in!

every summer i take one week off of work to spend with the girls. we usually don’t go on a big vacation during this week, but instead we do little day trips.

we started off our vacation with a bang….an afternoon of waterslide & sprinkler fun, followed by ‘Smurfs 2’ @ the drive in!

picnic in the rain

I can’t believe i’m doing this, but i’m actually blogging about what we did today! that’s right….today!! this is probably the first time I’ve ever done this! yahoo!

we had a pretty eventful day planned…haircuts, picnic at the park with friends, doctors appointment, and playdate with McKenna. Haircuts went good, doctors appointment for sierra was smooth, the girls had fun with McKenna….the picnic….it was a blast! as soon as we sat down to eat, it starting raining pretty good, but the girls didn’t mind! they raced to finish their food so they could go play in the rain! and then when the rain slowed down, we walked down by the creek to explore! and by explore I mean walk up and down IN the creek! then the girls went back and played in the park some more.

naturally the sun came out as soon as we got home! oh well….we still had a blast!

real time

wow….I can’t believe it…i’m actually blogging in real time. it’s been quite a while since I’ve been able to do this…and i’m sure it will be a while til I can do it again. oh well, such is life. as much as I love doing it, I don’t let it stress me out if I get behind…it just means that i’m busy enjoying life! and life here has been pretty crazy lately! it’s summer….the weather is crazy! it’s a hundred degrees one week and 70 the next! crazy! we’re trying to pack in as much fun as we can before the girls go back to school. parks, water fun, bike rides, sleepovers….the list goes on and on. I can’t believe tuesday I register the kids for school and they start in just over 2 weeks! ahhh!

I work this week….altho it’s an easy week again because of appointments and what not. and then next week i’m off all week to hang with my kiddos! we have some fun stuff planned, as well as just some relaxing time! I’ve been really lucky this summer, being able to take off almost every Wednesday to hang with the girls! I love my job, but even that has been crazy lately….my wonderful boss, Mr. Kevin Mason, has been out of the office for the past 3 weeks….within the span of 11 days he found out he had a brain tumor, had surgery to remove it, had another surgery less than 24 hours later, and was back in peru, recovering in the comfort of his own home. and then 4 days later he became a grandpa for the first time to a beautiful baby girl! what a whirlwind! it’s crazy to think of him not being at the office everyday….he’s such a great person, so outgoing, and talkative, and smart, and caring! he’d do anything for anyone…and he knows a lot of people! the outpouring of support from his friends and clients has been tremendous! throughout all of this, he’s most worried about his family and ‘the kids upstairs!’ he’s told Rose and Linda several times….”take care of the kids” and he points up…..referring to Jodie, Matt, Michele and I….because that’s how he thinks of us. i’m tearing up writing this….no one knows what the future holds, but it’s hard to imagine our office without him. let’s hope it doesn’t come to that.

it just goes to show that everything can change in an instant. I constantly hug and kiss my kids and just sit and watch them and smile (and sometimes cry) because I realize how truly blessed I am! i have 3 amazing, healthy kids, a wonderful boyfriend, a caring and supportive family, some of the best girl friends a person could ask for, and countless other blessings. you just never know what can happen….so live life, have fun, love, and all that good stuff! kevin has a caring bridge page if anyone is interested….go to caringbridge.org and type in kevin mason.

and then, last night, a peru police k9 was killed in the line of duty when the officer’s car was struck by another car while they were on the way to an armed robbery in progress. kali, the k9, was apparently thrown from the car. what a tragedy…and to think…all because some idiots decided to rob a cell phone store! it’s sad to think what this world is coming to. I mean, it’s bad enough that there’s cancer and other diseases, and freak accidents and what not, but then you have all these people making conscious decisions to do harm. ugh, it makes me sick.

i’m not a religious person, but I do love luke bryan and I love this song, and I’ve been doing this a lot lately….

“don’t worry about nothing,
let it go, see what tomorrow brings,
don’t worry about nothing,
pray about everything”

another saturday photo shoot with sierra

the past couple Saturdays that the big girls have been with their dad have been great weather, so I’ve been taking sierra outside to try to snap a few cute shots….sort of prepping her for our family pics next week. I just love her little mug! oh….and she let me put a headband in and she left it alone! score!!

I have a ton more pics from today and every other day….some day (hopefully soon) i’ll have them on my shutterfly page. http://www.pellegrinifam.shutterfly.com

nine months

I cannot believe sierra is already nine months old. I know, I know, I say this every month. I just don’t understand it….9 months of pregnancy seems like a lifetime at times. but the first nine months of a baby’s life flies by! it’s just not right!

her monthly pics this time are a little different since she’s constantly on the move now. really the only time she lays down is to go to sleep….changing her diaper and getting her dressed is a real pleasure these days. but i’m sure it’s just a phase and she’ll be better soon…at least I sure hope so!

sleepovers and visitors

we had a couple busy nights in this house. on friday july 26th, the girls’ friend nadia (almost) had a sleepover! haylie and Charlie were super excited when I told them that nadia was coming! they couldn’t wait for her to come….they wanted to play with their American girl dolls, do make overs, and all kinds of other stuff! they packed a lot of fun into one night!

playing Mario kart!

nadia didn’t actually sleep over….it was her first slumber party so she was a little nervous. we didn’t want to pressure her….I know how scary it can be for young kids to be away from their parents for the first time. luckily, nadia also happens to be our neighbor so when she decided she was ready to go home, we just walked her across the street to her mom! we can’t wait to try again though! regardless…..I know they all had a fantastic time!! and nadia is truly one of the sweetest, kindest girls I know! 🙂

a few nights later, on Tuesday, mikaela and logan came over for a sleep over! their day care provider was on vacation for the week, so I was filled in on my day off. and I figured, hey, may as well have a sleepover too! I didn’t even tell the girls they were coming over, let alone staying the night! they were soooooo excited!!! they played a bunch of wii, made forts, and all kinds of other fun stuff!

the whole clan!! love it!!!

the next day, in addition to mikaela and logan spending the day with us, my old college roommate monica came into town with her two boys for our annual playdate! we had a house full of kids, and i wouldn’t have it any other way! we had so much fun! the kids were all extremely well behaved! monica and i even discussed how calm and quiet it was! not the scary quiet, like they’re getting into mischief, but the nice quiet, when they’re all playing nicely together! we even went for a walk for lunch and we survived! what a great group of kids! i love having mikaela and logan over….they are so well-behaved and the girls absolutely love playing with them!! and monica’s boys fit right in with them! plus, logan wasn’t the only boy anymore! woo-hoo!

rotarty park fun!

we have a new park in the area….lasalle rotary park!! it has some pretty awesome equipment and sweet rubbery ground! it’s so neat and the kids love it!! we’ve only been there twice now because there’s absolutely no shade. they are working on a shelter though. on one of my Wednesdays off we went with our friends Rylynd and Amy! the girls always like having another friend to play with! then we ended the afternoon the best way we know how…with some ice cream of course!
